SCOR/Converium – European settlement – victory or consolation prize?
European shareholders are now part of the global settlement by SCOR/Converium (Class Period: January 7th, 2002 through September 2nd, 2004) for €74 million, and another $30 million in insurance monies are to be allocated between US and non-US shareholders. However, caution must be exercised rather than euphoria, as US investors are scheduled to receive 7.5 times as much as European investors. European shareholders should, therefore, carefully review their exposure and damages in this case, and consider alternative remedies and discussions about loss-recovery methods.
